She might feel she has two best friends. For some people, they like different friends for different reasons and really do have two or three close friends that they consider "best friends".
But if you find her saying it to everyone it could be because she is manipulative and hopes to gain something by being a "best friend" or that she changes her mind a lot. (most likely the first reason)
Give it time and see if what she says is true. Does she act like a good friend to you? If she behaves like a good friend, or a best friend would, then she meant what she said. If not, well then she must have just said it.

First of all you need to get over yourself!You are being way to stingy!One person can have more than one best friend!A best friend is just someone that you would probably prefer to hang out with or talk to more than your other friends!If oyu heard her telling sum1 else that they are her best friend too then you need to just deal!Just b/c she has more than one best friend doesnt mean that she is gonna love you any less or want to hang out with you any less then when she did b4 u found out that she has more than one bff.And dont ever make her choose between you or another person she may like alot or consider a bff,cuz you may lose your own bff that way!! Hey. i just went through the same thing. My best friend found someone older who could drive and started buddying up with her. then she magically had 2 bff's haha. well my advice to u is just wait it out because if she is really ur best friend then it will all work out. just tell her how u feel and that may help. mine disregarded me at first but in the end we r back to normal and are both friends (not bff's) with the other girl so. good luck, hun!!

Just get over it, if she is still a friend accept her friendship and don't worry if your number one or not. What is a ranking anyway why do you need to be numbr one? Maybe she does not want to hurt your feeling or maybe she does not want to hurt someone else's feelings.

Friendships are to be treasured if she is truly your fiend accep her friiendship as it is and don't worry if you number 1 or 12.
I am older and I would never expect someone to tell me if I was thier best friend I am just happy to have good friends. Maybe that is m own self confidence and I understand that being you you maynot have as much self confidence, but just be happy you have friends and maybe be a freind to somone who needs a friend. If you do that you will be someones best friend.

i agree. there's really nothing wrong in having 2 or more bestfriends. to be honest, there's really no such thing as only one "best friend". each friend is different from the other and that's what makes each one of them special. each friend has its own role in your life. if you heard your bestfriend telling another person that he/she is his/her bestfriend, don't be sad. just be happy coz at least your friend still considers you of one of the best people in his life
