I feel like there are gay people that truly do love each other, but I also feel like a lot of gay people are just mixed up and some even just want attention. I mean why does a man feel the need to talk, act, and dress like a female. Same goes for women trying to act like men. I see two women together and they are both dressed like men. I just don't get that? Why does it have to be a show. I know two gay couples that I really feel like they have love for each other and they do not act like that. One couple is two females and the other couple is two males. If you just meet them and talk to them you would never know. One thing I do understand is trans gender people. I understand that while a fetus is developing if it is a male and for some reason it gets more of the estrogen hormone that child will feel feminine. If the child is female and it gets more of the testosterone hormone it will feel like a boy/man. That is the only thing that I really believe you are born with. As far as being born gay,i guess I just don't understand because I don't know how you are born and only like the same gender as yourself. I guess what I'm trying to say is why would you never even want to consider the opposite seems that is what nature tells us to do- reproduce. I mean if everybody decided to be gay mankind would no longer be.

To the best of our knowledge, it is neither.

More and more scientific evidence is being found to support the theory that sexual orientation is heavily influenced by innate biological factors beyond one's control.

This does not make it a "mental issue," however, as every major medical and mental health organization has affirmed that homosexuality is not a disorder and therefore cannot be cured.

It is a diversity issue.

Neither, it is nature's way of creating diversity. Look at all the incredible variety of life. Look at all the colors, different types of animals, races of people, languages, types of trees! Does it make sense that humans, the least primitive of all God's creations would have only one type of sexuality? NO!! Why would God creat so much diversity in every other part of life and none at all when it comes to a topic as important as love? Homosexual behavior has been observed in thousands of species of animal and it is commonly accepted as a natural part of life in areas of the globe that were not govorned by Christian colonialism. Are they all suffering from some mental issue? I think not. I think the mental issue lies with the people who refuse to accept what they do not understand.

In my humble opinion, you relinquish your sense of self and become powerless if you think that you have no control over anything. I believe that we have the ability and power to choose how we act and behave. Granted, some choices are much more difficult to live than others. We can choose to over come a fear of speaking in public, or just relegate ourselves to avoid challenges and live a solitary life and become an accountant. (Sorry, was a private joke), or we can work to be whomever we want to be.

I say its a choice.

I take it to be a fact that the vast majority of people who are homosexual did not choose it but simply find it to be their nature. Most gay people struggle for many years with accepting themselves as gay -- far cry from "choosing" it as a "lifestyle." There may be a few people out there living as gay by choice, who aren't really, but they are exceptional.

We are born with it. Trust me. When I was in junior high, I really wanted to be straight, because I knew that people were so hateful and even violent towards gays and I was afraid of that. Today, however I'm learned to accept myself and try not to concern myself with the hate of others.

It is neither a "mental issue" or a "chosen lifestyle".

You cannot choose who you are attracted to... Look at women who get into abusive relationships, they fall in love with the person and then get beat. Its not that they "chose" to be beaten. You cannot choose who you fall in love with, you just do.

Everyone is born with a flaw and we are the ones who CHOOSE how to deal with it. so i would say that its a mental issue and they can choose not to live with it. So it a chosen lifestyle and i really don't understand why anyone would .......
