pre-natal and antenatal is the same thing. I think it is reffered to as antenatal throughout the UK, pre-natal in America and other places I think

I have only had a booking appoinment at 10 weeks, scan at twelve and thats it. I am now approaching 18 weeks, thats eight weeks since an appointment with a midwife, my clinic tells me I wont be seen again until I am nearly six months! surely thats too long? what about the blood work I will miss or is this normal for a second timer?

I think you get about 6-8 appointments with your second baby, as long as you are ok. If you have certain problems or had problems with your previous pregnancy then you might be seen more often. Just make sure if you feel at all strange then check with your gp or midwife just to be on the safe side.
You might find you will get your booking appointment, 12 week scan, 20/24 week scan and then a couple more midwife visits, you might not see anyone in your last month depending on how you are but they try to come out once at least.

Hi. I am 34 weeks pregnant with my second and have not even had midwife talk to me about antenatal classes this time. Yet I had my last child 4 years ago so probably could have done with a refresher course lol. But to be honest I did not find them much good the last time at all so not really bothered. I see her again when I am 35 weeks, but don't think she is going to offer me any now

for the first baby with a normal pregnancy its around 10 visits (depends where you live)
and for 2nd, 3rd etc you can useually expect 6-7 with the majority happing at the later stages.
remember if your worried you can book and appointment with either the midwife or doctor.
a high risk pregnancy on the other hand (including twins and history of premature births, preeclamsia, past medical history of chronic conditions such as diabetes etc) will see there midwives more often and the number of appointments will be as many as required.
im 12wks i have already had 2 midwife appointments and a 8wk scan, second scan tomorrow and another appointmet with midwife the following week. ( 6th pregnancy, but never made it full term so im under constant monitering)
the fewer the appointments the better as it means they are not concerned with you and baby and are progressing well.

you go once a month/4 weeks for the first 30 weeks then every 2 weeks after week 32. thats for a normal healthy pregnancy. I've just had baby number 3 and thats how often it was for me! it may change from authority to authority.

Should be same as first hun mine is. You should have seen a midwife when you were about 15 weeks in case you want the blood tests taking for downs syndrome etc. I would call your GP and enquire. never sit at home worrying always call your midwife if you are scared or worried that's what they are there for. x

I had my booking appointment at 10 weeks, then another appointment at 16 weeks, then no appointment until 25 weeks. But this is my first pregnancy, although I don't think it should make any difference. Every area is different, however.

Call an ask, Its better to be safe than sorry. In america we go every 4 weeks till like 30-32 weeks and then go 34,36,37,38,39 and usually every other day to every day till the baby is born. But I have never made it past 37 weeks. Congrats and your baby and I wish you good luck. Merry Christmas and happy holidays

this depends on the previous pregnancy and if your Hb (haemoglobin) or antibodies are affected. If you are Rh Negative and received your anti D injection post delivery you should not have excessive tests done, if you did not receive anti D (most UK mothers do) you will be carefully monitored. this also depends on the blood group of your partner, as a haematologist we need to check your platelet levels too, and also to check if yoour antibody levels are raised. Usually the GP will monitor you and it is him/her who decides on the blood tests, only if there is problem will the laboratory request repeats.
