Trade some players away and "rebuild" a bit. Trade away Marbury, Crawford, Nate Robinson and Jerome James to free up some cap room. Get as many 2007 draft picks for them as possible, because the 2007 draft is pretty deep and drafting players is the only thing Isaiah can do decently. After Isaiah drafts the rookies next year, fire him and get a decent/good coach (Rick Adleman?).

Well...Marbury isn't doing anything for them so it wouldn't be that bad if they trade him and get something a lot lesser in value in exchange for him (maybe one draft pick, an big unwanted contract of a team needing a point guard)

You can't get rid of Isaiah before the draft, you need him for it. He can do one thing well and that's draft. This is the guy that drafted Tracy McGrady and Marcus Camby. I say "promise" him one more year and after the draft fire him! LOL That'll be the final suckerpunch to end his front office career

You want to give Isiah a chance? Seriously? The cold numbers during Isiah Thomas rule are pretty gruesome. In his three years in charge, the Knicks have gone 96-150 for a .390 winning percentage, 0-4 in their only playoff appearance, and 0-1 in their lone brawl. All that comes despite a payroll north of $120 million two years running. Give him a chance? Seriously?

I would fire Isaiah right at the end of the season. I'm a Pistons fan and huge fan of Isaiah. He's just one of those guys who are better off being remembered as a player, not as a President/GM/Coach. I do agree with you on rebuilding too. I would just get rid of Isaiah before the draft.

Everybody's hating on Isiah (Spelled ISIAH not ISAIAH, his mom spelled it wrong). Anyway, look at the job he's done with the players HE gave those contracts to. They already have about half the wins they had all of last year and we're not even half way through yet. He's in the weakest division in Basketball, I'm not talking playoffs, but he's doing something. You keep saying rebuild rebuild, they are rebuilding, of course they have veteran players, and maybe they aren't champsionship material and maybe they're capped out, but look New York is doing better than last year with players that have at least a couple years left. I say we give Isiah a chance. He has a goal and it's already been set in motion, let's give him a chance to make good before we throw him to the lions. The Knicks are doing better this year, they may do better next year...you don't have to be good to make the playoffs in the east. But wouldn't that be an accomplishment for the Knicks. Let's see how it pans out.

Get rid of Isiah first then stop paying billions for over-hyped spoiled guards that can't dish, can't score and can't win. We can't get rid of those guys because no other team is dumb enough to take them. Look how hard it was to trade Iverson who is much better than Starbury or Franchise. No one wants that contract because they aren't getting any return on their investment. Start drafting well and don't trade picks for garbage players, let their contracts run out and show them the door. No extensions or options. Damn I hate that the Nets are better than the Knicks. Knicks are the clippers of today and if Isiah stays we could be this way for a while.

I think the main problem is weak defense at rebounding at the forward positions. Stat and Melo are offensive juggernauts, but both are soft defensively. The reason the knicks keep losing with Melo and Amare both in the lineup at the same time is because their defense is bad and other teams exploit that. It puts a lot of pressure on Tyson Chandler to pick up both Melo and Stat's slack, and it also puts more pressure on the offense to out score their opponent. The knicks 2nd unit is much better defensively and they actually make stops because they communicate well on defense and they contest shots. Bot Melo and Amare suck at defense. The team is poorly designed. They have two offensive minded players at the forward position, which means they have to always be on their offensive game in order to win. It puts too much pressure on their offense. In my opinion, either stat or Melo needs to go and be replaced by a defensive forward. With Melo and Amare on the floor at the same time its like having 3 defenders out there. Its a very vulnerable defense. They can't win games with those guys terrible defense. That's why D'antoni puts in his second unit with Jeffries, Davis, Shump etc because they play good enough defense to get stops. The starting lineup sucks defensively and that's why oppossing teams beat them. And its also why the knicks went on a winning streak WITHOUT Amare and Melo. Its because their defense is terrible when Melo and Amare play. I think Melo shoudl go, free up the cap so the knicks can get defensive minded players to balance out the team. Amare can be a one dimensional offensive player surrounded by good defense.

1st of all Jamal Crawford is probably their most consistent guard so I wouldn't get rid of him. And the problem with Marbury and Steve Francis is that they have huge contracts so no team would be willing to take them from the Knicks. Trust me if the Knicks could've traded either of them away, they would have by now!

2 reasons why this wouldn't work

1st
Nobody would want Jerome James.
he is out of shape ,old ,and he has a HUGE contract
2nd
The knicks lost their first round draft pick when trading for Eddy Curry
