From the Forbes magazine listing the richest people in the US, you could rob all the billionaires and millionaires and you would get about 2 and a half trillion dollars. That would pay for about ONE YEAR of America's health care. The rich peoples' money doesn't amount to much in an economy of 11 trillion dollars. If any politician wants to raise money through taxes, they know full well that they have to tax the middle class. There is far more taxable money available in the middle class than the upper class.
Rich celebrities don't have a darn thing to worry about. They know that a rich politician will not pass a law to tax them more because a tax on the rich would include the politicians themselves. They aren't that stupid to raise the taxes on themselves, are they?
Being a celebrity means only one thing--selling yourself to the public. They rack up a lot of points by calling themselves liberal and caring and involved and on and on. Are they really so caring? Who knows. You couldn't get past the guards and gates at their ivory towers to get close enough to them to ask.

you are so right liberals dont want to raise taxes on the rich.......well besides the fact that they keep saying top percent should pay more but that is a minor detail huh? If you ever base any of your beliefs on what celebrities do and say you have alot more problems than politics

The rich can afford it, and it looks good to say "tax the rich" in a bait-and-switch that ends up taxing the upper-middle class.

Well, the liberals DON'T want to raise taxes on the rich. They want to raise taxes on the middle-class. There are always ways for the rich to get around paying taxes, and both political parties will always try to keep that around.
The celebrities have the "do what I say, not what I do" mentality. Notice the celebrities who fly across the country in a private jet, alone, and then get out and complain that we are using too much gasoline.
They make no sense.

Do you think the only thing that matters to them is taxes? Who are the republicans kidding? How is America going to pay for their War for Oil.. .. err I mean War on Terror .. that's it... Money doesn't grow on trees and those bucks in your wallet are based on the promise that the US government can back up what is printed on that piece of paper. What happens when the US government can no longer back it up? The value of the dollar plummets like it already has. The economy begins to crumble.
I think not just celebs, but most people in general are fed up with the whole Iraq thing. It's amounted to nothing but lost American lives and a big huge debt. I think THAT'S why they're liberal.

Like saying you are "for the enviroment" while flying around on your G5 and having 3 Chevy Suburbans -- like John Kerry
Modern Liberal "ideals" are based on hypocracy / popularity / selfishness / and greed

rasing taxes may be the only option the war in Iraq has left us, since Bush cut taxes for the upper class, and sent the poor class off to war, someone has got to pay the bill

You have a problem with paying taxes? You don't think you have a civic responsibility to pay for the programs our elected officials have created?
You think wars should just be waged on credit?
