Make it in black and white. Simple lines, very few embellishments. You can use a black background page, pleat a page of white paper about an inch larger than the picture you are using, and then make a large cumberbun for the bottom of the page out of black paper. You can do any journaling on the "cumberbun." At the top of the page you could even fashion a bow tie out of paper. You could even use buttons on the pleated portion, if you really want to give it "Oomph!"

Did you get damage patting your self on the decrease back for that one? I propose that's not precisely rocket technology, is it Jethro? LOL Yeah i'd have done an same problem myself, except i'd have glanced through the teachings basically to work out if there became something particular in there that would have a smidgen of interest for me, in the different case i'd basically pop open a beer and enable the spouse do it because it really is a guy's pastime. that would want to, of route, clarify why i'm divorced now.

To make it less girly, use black cardstock and silver and white, or, black and white and red.
You can really make it pop with black cardstock and then mount your photos on silver or white then with red.
