If the hardware is faulty, is there anyway to check the drive by myself?. help me out..

One way to prvent such things, is to use the button to move the tray in and out, pushing the tray in, may damage the tray or gears.

I've seen optical drives do this when the tray isn't being retracted properly. Every time you try to push them back in, they pop out again. Try removing the face plate on the optical drive's CD/DVD tray. It may have been broken or misaligned.

Have you tried messing with the "pinhole ejector"? Use a paperclip and push it in and out a few times just to make sure it's not stuck

sounds like it's defective or is dying i would go and by a new inexpensive drive from best buy or circut city and u will find a drive with your specifications there good luck
