What about a directors chair? They sell them for pretty cheap at places like walmart and pier one. Get a thing of chalk and put her name on it. Or you can go to a store in the mall called past and present and get her one of those things that directors use to write down what scene it is and snap really loud, not sure what they are called but they open and shut them and usually they are black and white or target or walmart may even have them, or maybe even suncoast, etc. You could write her name down as the star and make up a movie title and write down take 105 or something funny like that on it. (use chalk though) Bed bath and beyond may even have one. Enjoy shopping!!

RE:
Christmas gift for aspiring actress?
My friend is an aspiring actress, 22 years old. We're doing a small gift exchange $20 or under. Any ideas? I want this to be thoughtful but I'm helplessly uncreative.

I don't know of any websites off the top of my head that do it, but I know my dad had it done once. But find a way to have it look like her picture is on the cover of a magazine. You might can do this with a simple photo shop and print manager software. But just take on of her best head shots or something and make it page size. Then over the top write a magazine title like Glamour, Cosmo, People, etc. and then make up bogus headlines about her and how she's an amazing actress. Then frame it and give it to her. It should be good for a laugh, and shows you put some time and effort into it. And it should be relativly in expenssive!

I'd also suggest a book, maybe on auditioning, or one of the classics on acting theory - Stanislavski, Meisner or something.
A lot of actors also have a good luck charm of some sort for auditions - mine is a silver ring with a Shakespeare quote inscribed on it. Maybe something like that?
Does she have a stage makeup kit (assuming she does theatre)? Perhaps a cool box or case to keep her backstage supplies in?

How about a "theatre bag"?
I once saw a very famous ballerina leaving the rehearsal studio after work, with her dance bag over her shoulder ... it had her towel, her toe shoes, her make up, an extra sweater..
The style of the bag was a duffle bag, very pretty ...just big enough ... maybe your friend will take hers to the theater some day ...

If you know of an actor/actress she admires you can get her their biography. It might be inspiring for her to read about someone who struggled with getting their big break.

Get her a book on auditioning or a book of monologues. Monologue books are always handy to have on hand for auditions and you can find them at your local bookstore.

If she's into theater, especially musical theater, check into getting her a pair of character shoes. I use mine all the time and I just dabble in theater.
