I know it's probably a very silly question but I got my sister-in-law perfume for Christmas. Can pregnant ladies wear perfume? It's not harmful or anything is it?
Actually while I'm here I also have another question but I think I know the answer. Is it safe for pregnant ladies to bleach thier hair? I'm asking because any time in magazines a woman who has yellowy hair is pictured with her baby she always had natural coloured hair in the pic of her and the newborn. I have only ever once seen a picture of a woman with yellowy hair holding her newborn baby. She's someone I know (distantly) The babys fine, she a healthy 5 year old now but is it bad to bleach your hair during pregnancy? Thanks!!

Yes perfume is fine so dont worry, it will probably give her a "pick me up" too, you know how nice a new perfume etc makes you feel!
i think its ok to bleach your hair but i wouldnt suggest it, i have heard mixed stories about it.
i normally dye my hair red so its darker than my normal colour but my hairdresser was pregnant and she bleached her hair white and i guess she wouldnt have if it was bad for her baby but i have no idea medically speaking. if in doubt speak to a professional, its always best to be on the safe side.

Yes to both. There are products that can be used to bleach the hair that don't have chemicals that could harm the growing baby. The best persons to consult are professional colorists. Perfume may not be the best gift for a pregnant woman, much better for a baby shower gift. During pregnancy, a woman's senses are multiplied. SOmetimes, a woman can smell things she never smelled before. Smells that didn't irritate her will now bother her to the point of nausea. To give your gift a fair chance, I'd suggest getting your sister-in-law a different present for Xmas, and give her the perfume for a shower gift.

Usually you see women who dye their hair with their natural color by the time the baby is born because pregnancy changes everything about a woman's body. When I was carrying my son, my hair grew in straight (I'm African American) and as darker than it had ever been in my life. Styling products I had been able to use before now didn't work, and it grew faster. So it was easier to just let it do what it would do and tame it later. SInce giving birth, my hair has returned to normal.

yes you can wear perfume during pregnancy and it wont harm the baby...but some pregnant women might be sickened by the smell of the perfume so you probably should ask first.

And no you aren't supposse to bleach or dye your hair while you are pregnant. I forget exactly why but I believe its cause the fumes and the actual dye/blach seeps into your pores and can harm the baby. Anyway...if you can hold off (or your sis in law) from dying her hair for a few months then wait until after the baby is born.

As For The perfume It is okay Just some smells May made her sick, Because pregnant woman have a highned sense of smell during pregnancy. They say after 12 weeks of pregnancy you can color your hair and it will not harm the baby, But just to be on the safe side I would hold off untill the baby was born. Just to be on the safe side. Well good Luck and marry christmas

Perfume is totally safe to the unborn child for it doesn't give off the harmful fumes that things such as paint or hair coloring and bleach does. Even if it does not touch the scalp it can be dangerous to the baby. Doctors don't want you to paint or be around fumes when pregnant regardless of what trimester you are in. Id rather have my hair look just natural for 9 months even if the risks are low that it may harm my unborn baby. Just because their are moms that expose themselves to hair bleach and things and their babies are healthy doesnt mean its safe, just that their child was lucky. Better safe than sorry.

Pregnant woman can wear purfume, for me though I just didn't like the smell of it at that time.

You really should avoid coloring your hair during pregnancy because the chemicals used can be harmful to the baby. It will go through the skin in the process as well you would have to breath the fumes while they do it. If you must color go darker rather than lighter, the chemicals are less harsh.

Yes to perfume, the bleach not only may enter the body but because of chemical changes in a woman during pregnancy, her hair may not bleach, or color properly.

When a pregnant woman puts on perfume, it will give off a different smell that what it really smells like because of her hormones. Bleaching your hair during pregnancy probably won't take.

Yes! I am having the same problem. I don't understand how some people think it is fine to spray like 15 sprays on them. It's so gross. One spray of perfume or cologne is plenty! I have this problem with my mother in law, I love her to death but she wears this horrible smelling perfume and sprays so much of it. I've told my husband and he told her it was strong but she still does it. I guess I don't really have any solutions unless you want to just speak up to your co-workers but I know that can be hard.

Yes to perfume, no to bleach. The bleach can enter the bloodstream through the hair roots and cause problems.
