help plz.. i was given a task to detect an intrussion using snort software. The problem is, i don't have any hacking skills. could someone help me finding source where i can try attacking my lab computer? i am not using it in bad purposes, only for study...

You will need the IP of the computer your hacking. Also the web ISP's internet address I think? I doubt you can get the IP of the computers in the lab if there is a computer teacher then you will be in the computer settings and he or she will come by and say WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!!!

your not just attacking your lab computer, you will be attempting to hack into the schools server,, which is in the principles office. and once you try to hack into that,, boy YOU WILL BE IN TROUBLE... cause any attempted to will set off the computers alarm system and the principle will know where the attack is coming from.. what workstation your on at the time and who is on that work station..

if you wont to be in big trouble then go ahead try it... you won't be the frist to have tried it an been caught out

If you have the snort sensor installed, you could just use Nessus, part of the standard snort signatures will pick up on that scanning.
