I would say she is. Almost all of her books have feminist themes. Two of her books "The Penelopiad" and "The Robber Bride" are feminist outtakes on classic legends. "The Handmaiden's Tale" is about the exploitation of women by the men who abuse power. "The Blind Assassin" and "Lady Oracle" are about women who achieve literary success, despite obstacles that the men in their lives have created. The protaganist of "The Edible Woman" has an eating disorder and the book explores the theme of how women are pressured by men to look good and be good housewives. "Surfacing" and "Life Before Man" also discuss male-female relationships.
