Yes, there are gloves you can buy which have inserts you take out and put in the microwave, then back into the gloves and it feels wonderful on achy hands. I also remember one time I had a gift card to a spa where they used electric heated gloves (similar to an electric blanket) and that felt great too. I think one of those squishy stress balls might help him exercise also. Maybe a gift card for a hand massage would be nice.

My grandfather had horrible arthritis, and he had a Dilbert stress ball he used for exercises. You could possibly get some type of novelty stress ball that he would enjoy.
This summer I injured my hand and the doctor said I needed to get a stress ball, but I couldn't find any in town so I bought a big squishy rubber spider at Wal-Mart in the toy section. It had little beads inside of it, and that worked great for me. (It was also fun to tease my husband with because he hates spiders.)
Any type of gadget that would make life easier for him would nice too. An electric can opener or jar opener might be nice. See if they have an ergonomic universal remote control. Also, ergonomic pens and mechanical pencils would be nice. (They're spendy, but they ease a lot of stress when writing.)

I don't know about gloves, but last year I got my Mom a jar opener from Black & Decker. She says it works very well & she's happy she has it b/c of the arthritis in her hands.

I know there are more inexpensive ones out there if you just look around.
These are a wonderful thing to have if you have arthritis in your hands.

My mom has arthritis and she likes lotions that say they are "cooling", I think St. Ives makes one. You could buy him an electric jar opener too, my mom loves hers.

There are magnetic bracelets that are supposed to work wonders. Also I've heard that copper bracelets are good, but they tend to turn the wrist green.
