You can try searching for a copyright on www.copyright.gov.

Phoenix is right. However make sure you check trademarks as well as copyrights. Copoyright infringement is a HUGE deal businesses must sue if someone uses their name otherwise the name could be cosidered "generic" and can be used by anyone. So check it out, and when you find a name you like make sure you register it so no one else can use it. Good Luck.

You have to apply for an assumed name certificate they will tell you at that point if you have to pick another name or not!
