Just take it to your bank and deposit it. You may want to ask them about fees before you do it.

I've done it before at Bank of America. It can take well over a week or so to get the money. There will almost certainly be a handling fee and they will not give you a great exchange rate. Unless the check is for more than one hundred pounds, it may not even be worth cashing it. Have the bank estimate what you will actually receive after all the handling fees have been applied.
