Take them out to dinner, their choice, your treat. Gift cards are always useful. If it's a woman, flowers or jewelry. If it's a single man, homemade baked goods. If it's a married or attached man, a bottle of wine or booze, or a dinner out for him and his partner. Picture frames, or books on a subject they're interested in.
