It's easy to find people's opinions of the benefits of the internet, but what do you think are the worse things the internet has caused/enabled?

I believe these are the worst effects of the internet:

1. It is very difficult to shield your children from pornography, profanity, and sexual predators.

2. The standards of journalism have eroded, and fact-checking has become less important than being the first to release a story.

3. It is difficult to verify the authenticitiy of information or people because there is a degree of anonymity and no requirements for publishing content.

4. It seems to encourage people to spend less time interacting with each other in a social setting.

5. Over time, there will be so much information, and so much of it will be biased, that it will become very difficult to find "useful" information.

6. The ASP model of services means that you can suddenly lose valuable items when a service is discontinued or introduces an unreasonable fee.

i think the worst effects are how the world is now more open for spammers and scammers that can easily steal your information or identity through online shopping, various accounts or more. Also how sexual predators can scout prey easier and make the world a bit more dangerous for girls with blogs and photos. The biggest problem however is how the internet is just open to explicit content by supporting the worlds of violence, porn and criminal activity. people also become less patient away from the computer because they are used to everything being handed to hem really fast.

Hi. 2 things i can say.

1. It is getting hard to find information. I Mean if u want to find general stuff yes but once u go specific, it is gonna be hard and u have to go thru one set of links to find what u wnat which is time consuming.

2. People get lazy as in only sitting behind a computer and rely on a computer too much. If a computer is taken away from them for one day they wud be like fish out of water lol.

Thats my contribution. Laterz.

The worst cause/effect of the development seems to be the widespread growth and availability of pornorgraphy and in particular child pornography....it is really sad that people mis-use the internet in this way.

We can list many effects but what is important here.. is the advantage of it..but there are effects which will make us suffer in the future.people are becoming greatly addicted to Internet.People are getting Bomb manuals to porn films and ways to murder to ways to commit suicides..Every media should have some constraints and Internet is one of the media which is easily accessible and has no constraints..Was with this aim the scientists who worked for the implementation of the Internet wanted ???God knows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Desensitization to violence and misery, destroying ability to empathize. Complete retardation of social skill development. On the flip side of that, nerds with no social skills can be gods online, and some of that confidence can stick to them in the real world.

Probably the worst thing to me is that there are so many new ways to commit crime. Now we have to deal with identity theft, hackers, and child predators who abuse the chatrooms and communications system.

Rudeness.

Sorta like real life -- you put yourself out there to people and they decide to riddcule you. The only difference is now people can do it under the guise of another name (or no name at all).

A more difficult "territory" to police !

It is a difficult place to keep crime and corruption under control.
Along the lines of sex and other illegal traits, as these criminals become more anonymous, and difficult to track, without a PHYSICAL presence.
