Women who do that most likely carry their shoes with them and change right before work. It's more comfortable and practical than walking around in heels on the way to work. I live in New York City and the sidewalks aren't exactly fabulous so I stumble sometimes and kind of ruin my shoes.
I personally don't do it but I know of women who do.

I think we are too fashion obsessed and need to look the other way. " comfortable " dress shoes are not out there as far as walking a mid to long distance.
Most people that wear the tennis shoes into the office change into their dress shoes for the day and return to the tennis shoes to walk back to their car. It is only a short inconvenience for the person viewing them walking to and from so look the other way.

No Way!!! That totally ruins the whole outfit actually. It might be a cute skirt outfit buit wearing tennis with it just totally throws the look off comepletely. I mean im sure that is probably a difficult 10 minute walk if you are in heels but still if it was me I would take my heels with me and change them as quickly as possible or just deal with the blisters.

Let me tell you, i work in an office and i wear my sneakers to work. Sometimes, comfort is more important then fashion. Its not like your sporting this look at the club. Id rather be comfy on my way into work, then to be uncomfortable and it be hard to walk in my heals all day because i wore them during the walk into work. If your not to Kean on the idea of it, maybe try a pair of sneakers with no back, that way your not wearing socks.

Well I see it all the Time in DC , Most women wear the sneakers while walking to the office , then change into the Heals before work. I see nothing wrong with it. Walking in DC is a Pain in the butt in sneakers .. it would be total Hell in heals !!

Most of the women who work in my city change their shoes when they get to work. I am doing this today, as their is a lot of snow and I am not breaking my neck.
A lot of women here walk on their lunch breaks with their tennis shoes on and then put their work shoes on afterward.
I guess that everyone just knows that it is for comfort, and most women's dress shoes were not made for walking.

I do not mind at all, I find that my employees are more productive and happier in the workplace when they are comfortable.
Turn the other way if it bothers you, don't do it yourself it is certainly your choice.
However if a person is going to be walking distances to get to work, or spends a great deal of their workday on their feet I see no problem. Heels and dress shoes are horribly hard on the body in terms of ergonomics.

I think most of those women have shoes that they will slip on when they get to their office. I don't see anything wrong with it personally. Is it any different than wearing boots in the snow?
Don't let it bother you, my God be repulsed by people who squeeze their size 16 azz into a pair of size 8's.

"dress shoes" and "comfortable" cannot be used in the same sentance unless "not" is in between them. just try to take a 10 minute walk in heels, you'll see. sneakers with a skirt may look awful, but at least they're smart enough to not torture themselves with unpractical shoes.

What it is, is SMART!! They usually change shoes once they get to work. 1. Wearing heels all day is painful on your feet. 2. It is wear and tear on your heels. 3. Tennis shoes are made for walking and running - being in transit please believe you do a lot of walking and running! So yeah look away or offer to take me on a shopping spree at your expense =)
