I was in the grocery store yesterday, and a woman in front of me was talking on a cell phone, and paid for part of her groceries with food stamps. WTF?!?!

1)a cell phone can be cheaper than a landline and a way to have phone service. if the woman got food stamps, she has kids. that means, she needs a phone.

2) sometimes food stamps are given for emergency situations on a limited basis.

3) sounds like you ought to count your blessings rather than try to humiliate the poor.

Wrong? I work with someone who has two jobs, a nice van, doesn't pay his taxes, doesn't pay on his wife's student loan, begs for money at his church every Sunday, lives in his father-in-law's house for free, just filed for bankruptcy because of the credit cards he ran up, and this guy brags about collecting welfare. I see him everyday at the convenience store using his welfare card to buy himself about six or seven dollars of junk food for lunch. He only qualifies because he and his wife have five kids. They go to the movies every week with them (figure out how much that costs!), they absolutely need a satellite dish, computers with all the latest games, and, yeah, cell phones for everyone!
Because, as he puts it, his kids deserve the best. I told him that his kids deserve what his parents can give him, not the taxpayers, and he and his wife should have thought about how many kids they could support on their own before having five. He told me to make sure I pay my taxes because his kids want a lot for Christmas.
Some welfare recipients just plead poverty and hide behind their kids because they know they will get away with it and they and their kids can just live beyond their means because the taxpayers will pick up the tab.
These days, you can have a kid and not spend much money raising them because the WIC program will give you all you need until that kid is five years old. They even have to come into your house and put the free food in your refrigerator for you. You don't even have to do that much for yourself.
Wrong? You know it.
It's about time the welfare gave NO benefit increases everytime you have another baby. If there is no incentive to have another baby, then they just might think twice about have a second child, let alone the fifth.

This is all another reason why Blues need RFI-Chips so we can scan them and know where they are at all times.
