Was it commonly desired before the movie/song, or do you think that it was a product of the movie/song?? Or did Coca-Cola invent it like the rest of our Christmas icons?

sorry it should read "was so important".

I don't know, but I hate cold. I don't mind snow, just hate the cold that comes with it :)

I enjoyed my 75 degree Christmases when I lived in southeast Texas.

I think the desire for a White Christmas ties in with the "ideal" Christmas image projected in the 50's and 60's, when the major style and influence in the country was dominated by the Northeast (where it usually snows for Christmas).

I wouldn't say that its important because most people in the US don't get a white Christmas. The legend of Santa Claus has him coming to bring toys and what not in a sleigh drawn by reindeer which are pack animals from the Arctic circle so I think that it may be something that was drawn from that. Santa is dressed in heavy winter clothing in the legend as well. Its part of the history of Christmas but I don't think it has anything to do with being a Christian as it does not play into the religion at all. At all. Its a tradition and probably we should not read too much into it or look for a conspiracy. I have only seen one white Christmas in my lifetime but I don't resent the idea or see it as important or a problem.

Just PR, Maybe the old Bing Crosby movie. Here in TEXAS there is no snow on Christmas. In fact a local group just came out with a cute Christmas song talking about the fact. I'll be just as likely in my shorts & flip-flops on Christmas day as a jacket.

Christmas is in the winter, and winter associated with snow, so if there's no snow on Christmas, it doesn't feel like Christmas for some reason. Plus, Santa lives in the North Pole, so when it snows it feels like a gift from Santa.

The idiots who want to go skiing over their holiday breaks. Snow is pretty if you don't have to go out in it. I only like snow for Christmas Eve and Christmas day then it can melt away and I would be perfectly happy. Here in northern Indiana USA we have had no snow that has stuck and last week we had temps in the 50's. I am hoping for a snowless holiday myself.

I think its just because in the states at least it is a winter holiday, so snow is associated with Christmas. I do think the entertainment industry has fed the idea of a white Christmas...Bing Crosby helped!

I wouldn't call it "important," but a lot of people are nostalgic for when they were kids and there was lots of snow on the ground for Christmas. I wouldn't expect someone from a warm climate to really care about it.

commonly "truth: is the more desirable determination, yet when it motives conflict between friends, or relatives contributors, and somewhat white lie, that can not damage all and sundry can help this man or woman, do not show it. truth typically "hurts", and except you want to have this particular someone struggle through discomfort, it will be more desirable to proceed to be "close-mouthed." at the same time as i became youthful, my mom used to inform me she knew how typically I advised those "little white lies". She reported, seem at your fingernails, and see those little white dots?" "nicely each and each and every represents one little white lie." not genuine of route, regardless of the indisputable fact that it makes a superb tale and promises something to imagine about at the same time as your youthful.
