You make a decent point but, I would venture to say that only in the last 20 years have you seen this much pro black television. Take a minute to answer but, prior to those 20 or so years, who do you think was ruling the airwaves??
Perhaps, if there was more racial equality and acceptance in the world, there would be no need for exclusive shows to honor and showcase my fellow black americans.
F.Y.I.
Black americans may have television broadcasts to honor and showcase but I don't recall there ever being an issue raised about white america not being invited or welcomed to any event but i'm guessing that if you had it your way, blacks and quite possibly other races would not only be unwelcomed but also uninvited which brings us right back to why we must do things this way.

It is not okay. It is a sad state that feels it is necessary to have such separation in the areas of race. Are we that small to feel it is necessary to perpetuate this raciest type thinking. Because if one group has something the other group is surely going to want it or is entitled to be treated the same way. Terms such as "Black is Beautiful" lead to "White is Right" and "Black Power" leads to "White Power". Let's just get beyond it all already and focus on "We the People" and the "Human Race", we can all identify with that can't we.

Do you realize that all of these things had to be established for a reason? They had to be established because other tv stations weren't necessarily geared towards blacks. Black colleges were opened when your private colleges wouldn't allow blacks in. Essence Awards had to recognize black entertainers because your mainstream awards programs weren't giving blacks the attention they deserved. Do you realize that Halle Berry and Denzel Washington were the first blacks to win Best Actress/Actor and that was just in 2002....Only four years ago!
I could see if everything was equally geared towards everyone, but it's not like that so STOP your ranting and OPEN your eyes. Besides, this question is asked twice a day; it's starting to get old.

Hmmm...odd is it?
Hattie McDaniel played "Mammy" in Gone with the Wind (1939), opposite Vivien Leigh and Gable, a role in which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, making her the first African American to win an Oscar. This award was in 1940. Now, count how many years it took for the next black entertainer to be recognized for their contribution to the wide screen. Who has monopolized the winning circle for the Oscar, Emmy, etc.? I hardly think you have to worry that all of the racially named awards are going to upstage the Oscars. You have little to worry because it will take a year of Sundays for blacks to "catch up" in those events. Without being racially called White Entertainment Awards, you can count on the majority of those events to be taken by "caucasians."
On a more serious note, is that ALL you ponder about in this world today? Because there are a lot more important things to concern yourself with like hunger, poverty, war, etc.

If a white person lives in an Asian/African country, they are allowed to do that because they are a minority and it gives them a sense of belonging and they can support each other because they know what each other is going through. In the western world, black people and Asian people are a minority and they only know what its like living in a white mans country. If they choose to meet up and show appreciation for achievements and so on, i cant see y thats a problem. We all need support and appreciation. In Africa, theres nothing like black this and that but u do have American thins strictly for Americans....

Americans clearly identifies itself and separates itself from "whites" with long long black ancestries. All these called for such namings and America has legalize the right to have a racial organization.Have you forgotten about Hispanic Student scholarship and others?During B.E.T. awards some whites are seen around and no one gets harassed.i believe Justin Timberlake,Eminem and Fat Joe are some few whites who associate themselves with blacks at all black gatherings.Flip the coin and see if "whites" would allow any black to all white gatherings? Now you see the difference, even though what we do might be isolation to you we welcome everybody to our gatherings. There are whites in HBCU.Whites do not want to be in our midst because of who you think of us but we blacks are cool to be with you. Most whites don't seem to accept us and we can't help you on that.We all have to make adjustment and accept each other.

it's OK because most are afraid to say that it bolsters mediocrity.
awards and media outlets that focus only on specific groups to the exclusion of others, effectively reduce creativity and ultimately short-change everyone. really - when's the last time you heard of anything noteworthy coming out of (for instance) the "black community", until it had entered (and excelled in) the level playing field of a multiracial environment?

I want all white pagents, awards, colleges, etc. If blacks have all black things then whites should have all white things. I'm tired of seeing blacks when all I want to see are whites.
