yes and no if you press the home button it will tell you how much life is left when the controller is turned on and your at the home page but if your playing then no it just dies . keep extra batteries at all times.

Sort of. It's something you need to check, it doesn't alert you automatically.

If you pause your game (+), it pops up the screen to resume or go to the home screen. At the bottom is a status bar that shows the batt levels of any remote that's currently powered on and connected to the system.

I recommend investing in rechargable batteries as well -save you money in the long run!

You can always check your battery meter with the home button... but really, just get the new rechargeable batteries that can recharge in 15 minutes. They are great and don't drain as quickly as I thought they would (as fast as a normal set of batteries)

Mine doesn't. Unfortunately, you have have to find out right in the middle of an intense game.
