Yes.
I resided in suburb of Paris, France for 2 years, and encountered Johnny Depp at a train station.
I had disembarked at my destination and was walking through the station when I decided to buy a bouquet of flowers from a vendor. I was short about 20 centiemes, and there was a man buying an apple, and he opened his palm and told me to take what I needed, so I thanked him and took the change, and then as he was hurrying to catch the train, my husband asked me if I recognized the man, and when I replied no, I wasn't paying attention, my husband told me the man was Johnny Depp. I quickly turned and saw the man board the train and he happened to look at me as he was boarding, and he smiled and waved, and sure enough, he was indeed Johnny Depp!
We also spotted Liv Tyler in Paris one afternoon.

I work in Pittsburgh so I've seen a lot of former Pittsburgh sports figures here and there around town (Lynn Swann, Franco Harris, Mark Malone, etc.). A colleague and I were out doing traffic counts one day (for work) and we were helping a lady whose car had stalled and the only person that stopped to ask if they could help us was Franco Harris - seemed like a really nice guy.

As a screenwriter, I meet a lot of actors and actresses. The thing to remember is they are human and they want to be treated like normal people when they are walking around the city. Just imagin if someone is gawking at you: kind of awkward, right? Some of them like the attention, while others hate the attention. Easiest thing to do is not to give any unnecessary (sp?) attention towards them.

I waited on the singers from the country band Trick Pony, I was real rude cause it was a real busy bad night and when they left I found out who they were. And I waited on some of the members of Lonestar too but I knew who they were, I even got my shirt signed, and I have a shirt signed by The Poverty Neck Hillbilly's, I met them at work to, I worked at Waffle House when I met all these people, they come in during Country Concert.

many...many years ago a couple of friends and I were driving from St. Louis to Kansas city. We were boooooored.
My friend put a sign in the window that said "pardon me, do you have any grey poupon?" Most people just looked at us like we were nuts.

Later, a tour bus started honking at us and Sammy Hagar leans over the drivers shoulder with a jar of the mustard. It was Van Halen on their way to a concert in nowhere Kansas.

I've also stood in the women's restroom of a bar in line behind Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls

I LOVE the story about Johnny Depp. That was just great! (I'd give the ten points to that person, by the way.)

God - can you imagine - Johnny Depp, offering up change, and not even realizing it was him. (I'm not making fun...that would seriously be me, I'm always in my own little zone!) But yeah - what a GREAT story! :o) *swoon*

For me personally:

1) I met Samantha K, a local American DJ who was working for the English radio station in Taiwan, ICRT. She came to my dad's company to do some promotional commercial things, so I got to meet her then....

2) I used to work at Times Square up until a year ago, and Denzel Washington was Caesar in Julius Caeser which was playing at the theater - literally - right next door. So as soon as I stepped out of my building on Wednesday evenings around 5pm, I'd turn the corner to walk towards the subway and there he'd be, swarmed by fans wanting his autograph. The man was about average height, but JUST as good looking in person as he is on screen, no doubt about that.

3) I met the keyboardist for the Backstreet Boys on their "Millenium" tour". Nice guy, though I don't remember his name. My friend and I went to the concert and before the show, when folks were just starting to come into the stadium, we had some gifts we wanted to give them (the band, not the BSB) and so I went up to the edge of the stage (we were in the 9th row or so anyway) and called him over to give him the gifts. He gave me a hug, and was REALLY cool! And if you're curious - the gifts were: A beanie baby of a Canadian goose which was sort of their mascot, a bottle of maple syrup from Canada, and a hand towel with the Canadian flag on it. (My friend flew in from Canada to the US for the concert, if that helps shed some additional light on the matter. :o))

4) My best friend and roommate from college met Renee Zelwegger (who was travelling with a female friend) at a Dublin airport bathroom, of all places! My roommate was away at a study abroad program in London and was on a Spring Break trip around Europe - one of her stops was Ireland. She recognized Renee from Jerry Maguire (this was right after the movie came out, before all the Bridget Jones/Cold Montain hoopla) and was able to get her photo taken with her and get her autograph. She said that even though Renee and her friend were really tired, they were excited to meet "fellow Americans" and were VERY friendly.

I have been in the same store with CCH Pounder from "The Shield", she was really nice but her sister was very rude! I was at the Beverly Center mall and was getting ready to get on the elevator when I saw "Suge Knight" get on and thought, ummmmm NEVER MIND! LOL!

My friend and I was staying at the Rennaissance and talked to Ben Vereen, he was very cordial.

Met Roger Staubach at the Dallas airport. Real nice guy. Very easy to talk to. Got his autograph after waiting about 45 minutes, waiting for him to get up and leave the table he was at. He walked in the entrance of the Hotel/Lobby/Bar and I said to the wife, "I know that guy, from somewhere." She scoffed and reminded me we were in Dallas and that it wasn't likely that I knew him. Someone in the back of the room yelled "Roger, over here." It hit me immediately who he was. He sat down at our table for about 20 minutes, just visiting.
