A prepared and calculating Wizard would be able to use their greater range of spell choices first to be able to defend themselves and then destroy the Sorcerer. The Wizard also has access to higher level spells at 10th so he has more power.

However if they just roll out of bed and get in a scrap over breakfast, the Sorcerer would use the few spells that they know to repeatedly pound the Wizard.

Of course some feats and abilities bonuses and magical items could tip the balance either way.

Well I have been playing D&D when Gary first came out with it in the box. Well the answer would be on the player's experience and the luck of the dice. I have "gotten lucky" at times and killed someone with a 2 out of 20 chance. But normally, if both are equal, it is just the matter of who gets in the lucky shot first..

The Wizard because obviously...

He would cast "Melfarca's Curse of Bologna" on the Sorceror, and everything the sorceror would try to do would come out as bologna sandwiches (minus mustard and mayo).
