No.

Folded hands are discarded

At the showdown, if you called someone and they have a better hand then you, you are allowed to MUCK (discard) your hand.

If you get called, and your hand is better then the oppents, then they are allowed to MUCK their hands.

This goes around the table in the play order.

It depends on where you are playing. Some poker rooms will call for you to show, regardless if you are the winner or not. At the Harrah's in New Orleans, for example, I was fairly ticked off at the house rule that said I had to show my cards at the end of a hand. What happened is as follows:

I raise on the turn, one player calls.
The flop comes out, I bet, the other player folds, then asks the dealer to see my cards.
The dealer flips my cards over.
I protest, but, according to their bizarre house rules, the dealer can turn the cards and show if a player who was in at the turn requests to see it.

Obviously, this is not the case for most credible poker rooms, but it's always helpful to know the house rules before you sit down at a table. If bluffing is a big part of your game, then you'd better know whether or not you're required to show at the end of a hand, or else you could end up pretty pissed like I was.

Generally speaking, though, when two players are at the end of the pot, courtesy would say you have to show your cards, even if they're losers, but most people accept that some do not want to show their cards and give out information, so either way should be acceptable. It's a contest of personality and perception, so how one person decides to play shouldn't be scrutinized by others at the table.

If the hand has been called down to the showdown then the answer is yes, although sometimes on the end your opponent will show you a winner and you can just muck your hand, but he has the right to see your cards if it was called down.

The rules of etiquette for poker are that if someone pays to see it, you show it. But if someone "mucks" there cards then most people don't generally ask to see. Muck means to throw your cards down (usually after you see the other players cards) and is done because you know you are a beat. But again it is customary to show if they "paid" to see who won.

Not necessarily, if you are at the showdown with another person behind you, and if you act first in the flop, turn, river rounds, then you have to show your cards but if somebody else shows out of turn of if he/she acted first, then if that person has you beat then you have the option called "muck" means lay down your cards and not show the hand.

Technically you should be able to see a person's cards, but it's rarely enforced apart from in tournaments when players are all-in. If a player mucks his hand, although you lose information when you don't see it, there WILL be occasions when a winning hand is discarded! So it's best to let sleeping dogs lie and not cause a fuss. Some players get offended if they are asked to show their losing hand. http://www.church-of-texas-holdem.com/index.html

In Texas Hold'em...the first person to show their cards at the end is the person who made the last action (not call) such as the initial bet or the raise. Everyone else who called has to either show their cards if they have a better hand, or throw them out if they don't want to show, in a clockwise fashion.

no if you called and a better hand is shown you do not have to show yours. but there are some exceptions like in draw poker with jacks to open if you opened you have to show your openers
