Not only that, but I remember back in the 1950's, when you had to book a line from Ireland/UK to USA - a day in advance and wait in the day in question as you did not know when a line would be available. Also in the 60's when I phoned home in Ireland, I had to go through the International Operator, the Irish Operator, the local operator, the phone would ring at one of the neighbours and someone would have to run to get my Mom................ Nowadays, I can stand in an olive grove in Italy and speak to my wife in the kitchen at home in London................

Oh definitely!

That's all we had growing up for years. I still have the first phone my parents bought me. It was an old fashioned black phone that looks like it came off of a movie set way back in the 20's. It has the coolest "clickety clack" sound as you dial. Sure...it takes longer.... but back then, phone calls were important enough to actually not mind the wait. Today..... we are way too much in a rush. Maybe that's the answer to all of societies issues today. Give everyone a rotary phone... and watch us slow down the pace. *curtsies*

Rotary phone only became obsolete in the late 1980's, and there are still a number of them in use. These phone, made by Western Electric, are so rugged, they can last another 50, or so years in service.

LOL. yup. I remember the good ole days. yup, yup. I'm not sure how old I was when they started to appear...but I remember all my friends parents got them as soon as they came out...lol...I had the type of parents that didn't jump at new technology, so I was the only kid on the block still with the dial phone. I'm an old man of 42 today....Well....guess I'm gonna go wonder around aimlessly now and talk to myself. lol
Have a nice one. :-)
