(This was made for a guy's point of view (which doesn't make sense because I'm a girl) but ladies please use your imagination)
You're walking with your cousin (whom your family expects you to marry to secure the family) and she keeps babbling about her obsurd hobbies. Eating dirt, scratching her body, and collecting various belly dancer outfits. (which she is sporting now, and she's not skinny) The royal prosession comes up to you and the comely, elegnant, intelligent, all around perfect Princess steps out. She's greeting her subjects, her and The King, when a thief shows up. He grabs the Princess and holds several knifes to her body. One move and he kills the only heir to the throne. Your family shows up. The thief becomes overwhelmed and captures your cousin (much to your relief, she was still yapping about her disgusting hobbies) He tells you that only YOU can chose who lives or dies.

THere's a twist. If you save the Princess, the King will allow you to marry her and become next King, but your family will shun you. If you save the cousin, then your family will forever love you, but you'll be hated by the King and most likely kill you to afterwards. What do you pick?

Sorry about amking it a guy's point of view. If you're a female, you are welcome to replace all the Princess with Princes and such. Thank you.

Gosh that's hard to decide. I guess my instinct would be to save the prince because he is handsome and seems more important. But, when I stop to think about it, I don't even know the prince! Family should always be most important. I bet if I were to save my cousin, I wouldn't have to marry him! But I can't just let the prince get killed soooo...

I would not choose and rescue the prince and my cousin. If that means getting killed in the process then so be it.

Have a nice day. :)

Ok call me selfish and by the way I am female. I think I may have a "mans" perspective on this one.

I would have the babbling cousin killed. I would accept the fact the family will shun me probably forever. I am ok with this because I wouldn't have to live a life of misery with the cousin who frankly gets on my nerves and I would end up offing her anyways so I am better off letting the theif do what I would do at a later point in time.

I would be saving my own butt here. I wouldn't have to worry about the king killing me because I saved his daughter. I would probably have a happier life with her than the babbling cousin. Perhaps I could buy back some of the family members with jewels and such.

Yeah I know it sounds selfish but in this situation that is what I would do.

Your story has a couple of flaws. It's difficult to grab a person if you
are holding two knives, and to take a second hostage with out
having the first one get away is almost impossible.

However, for the sake of the plot the answer would almost have
to be as follows: Tell him to kill both of them they mean nothing
to you. While he is distracted by your comment, grab both
women and get them out of harms way. The kings men can
take it from there.

Sounds like it could be a good story.

MERRY CHRISTMAS and have a nice day.

Thank you very much, while you're up.

Is this a dream? It sounds to me like you want to kill off the cousin (what your family wants you to do) and save the princess (what you want to do). Save the princess the family will adjust!!!
