Is it actually possible for a man/women/animal , to die from extreme lonelyness basically a broken heart?

Lets say a 60 year old man , lost his father, mother , aunts uncle due to old age , and then his partner dies? Can he die from lonelyness/broken heart?

It has been said people have died of a broken heart. My grand parents came to this country together, began thier family in Yougoslavia, lived in Brooklyn untill thier death. My grandfather died first, and my grand mother 6 months later. And she was the one that had three strokes. We all though she would have been the first to go. When my gradfather passed, she wasnt the same. Then she just passed. Also, people live longer when they have a purpose in life, be it a job, a family, some sense of responsibility that keeps them going. But all this pertaind to elderly people. Young people may feel like they want to die, and get that empty feeling inside when they lose a loved one, or encounter a break up. But shouldn't die from it, unless its suicide.
To answer your questions. Yes a 60 yr old man is suseptable to death of a lonely or broken heart. Especially if that was all his life consisted of.
Sorry for such a morbid question at this time of year.
Be well,

R

Yes. It isn't the actual pain of losing family. It the lack of the will to live. If he feels he doesn't have anything to live for, he won't make an effort to get out of bed, get dressed. Do the things that people who enjoy life do.

Get him to a doctor who can see if he's depressed and then try to organise for him to attend a weekly Senior Citizens group. Older people get together and play cards, dance and stuff.

Good luck and just because you might not want him to go, he might not feel the same. So don't force it too much. He's probably had a good life.

yes it has happened before
people go into such a deep depression they actually shut down themselves and eat less and less, and they do not want to gt out of bed or move and their whole body gets complications from this
and yes something happens and they die
and when doctors have done autopsies, they can not find a thing wrong with them, and when the police do an investigation they find our their wife or husband has pasted away any where from a week or a few months ago
and that's all the find wrong,
so YES people can die for this and they have

good luck

I doubt it. The way that the mind and body react to one another could cause him to think crazy things and then possibly go and shoot himself or something in that category. But just being lonely or have a broken heart there is no way he could just instantly die from it.

If so, I have a strong organism. I have been basically alone for the past three years and I am still alive. Granted, some days I which I wasn't, but I do believe that sticking with it and gathering strenght in your loneliness will pay off in later days!

I'm guessing so. Even teens kill themselves when their boyfriend/girlfriend dumps them.. Imagine how sad and broken-hearted a man would feel?

Especially since he lost his loved ones, people he has been with for a really long time..

I believe so, I've seen it happen. I believe I lost my grandmother to a broken heart when she lost her husband, she passed 3 months later, she was in perfect health prior to his death. They were together 62 years.

No. However, it may happen that he looses interest in eating or taking care of himself and that leading to his death.
