The lack of objectivity is the reason that we should not be too critical of ourselves. It is better to look at our reflection in the reactions of those around us. Humans are social animals and talking with other people is not only a good thing but necessary for a healthy perception of reality and ourselves.

It is unhealthy because it causes oneself to develop low self-esteem. If a person has low self-esteem, it could lead to the development of a psychological disorder or leave the person alone and without someone special. If you don't love yourself, it's hard for others to love you back. Being alone can lead to isolation, which can actually take years off your life. Research has shown we live longer if we have friends, and we can't have friends if we are too critical about ourselves.
Hope this helps!

Honest and realistic is probably best. Optimism often helps too. Very often people react to thir own optimism by trying more effectively.
It is very easy to be too critical of oneself. Guilt can lead to depression. Self-harm or suicide follows sometimes.

Yes, it can become "unhealthy" because once we get into the 'habit of looking' at ourselves this way. We can't help but start doing this to others, as well.
(We judge others, as we judge ourselves.)
