Tuberculosis (Tubercle Bacillus) is a deadly infectious disease that attacks the lungs. Many people infected with TB have asymptomatic latent tuberculosis (they usually are unknowingly exposed to a person with TB). But active infections left untreated are often fatal.
Symptoms include frequent cough, coughing up blood, night sweats and chest pain
TB can be detected with a Mantoux (skin test) and chest x-rays
It can be treated with antibiotics like Rifampin.
