I hated that movie - it has to have been the worst movie I've seen since "Silent Hill" and that was bad, too. I don't know if the people of Slovakia know that their people's name has been tarnished but I do know that I've never even heard of that place. Call me crazy.

No he hasn't. He merely used a country in Europe as his setting. If a country was to get upset everytime their homeland is used in movies they would lose money. Movies put countries on the map if they are chosen in movies. Fictional movies at that. And if anything, that movie should go and show the nature of Thailand. Eli Roth got the idea from a friend who was looking online and found a website that would allow you to shoot someone in the head for 10,000 dollars in Thailand.

There has been hundreds of movies that placed the setting in real places. It does not at all bring negativity to their homeland or place of living/working. It brings out tourism, visitors on road trips, it gives history to the place that is used. It helps boost their economy. Now if the film had said in the beginning: This is based off of true events that happened to backpackers in Europe. Now that might damage the country and give a bad name. But if Slovakia rises complaints about this, for whatever stupid reason, then they are doing something to the point of not wanting to get caught by all of this exposure.

No credibility or any countries were harmed in the making of this film. It was made for pure enjoyment.
