Your most fertile days are the 2 days prior to ovulation and the day of ovulation. This is because sperm generally live for 2 days and the egg-white cervical mucus your body produces just before ovulation actually helps protect the sperm as it travels to the fallopian tube. The egg must be fertilized in the tube or it will not implant once it reaches the uterus, so it is best that the sperm is already present when the egg is released. Once the egg is released during ovulation, it will only survive for 24 hours. Some doctors advise sex every other day from days 10-20 of your cycle if you do not know when you ovulate. But if your spouse's/partner's sperm count is normal, then others will say have sex everyday from a couple days before ovulation and the day of - or whenever you see the egg-white cervical mucus.

Everyone's cycle is different. There is a myth that woman ovulate 14 days after their period begins...but that is only an AVERAGE and each month can be different. The other thing is that sperm can live inside you for up to 5 days.... so if you are having a shortened cycle one month and you have sex right after your period and you ovulate earlier than day 14 than yes, there is a chance of getting pregnant. The only way to know is to know exactly when you ovulate. There are several ways to know and some are more effective than others. Some can only predict before ovulation happens and some can only predict that is has already happened. The absolute best info I can give you is to go read a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive – or not! . It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not.
My husband and I tried for 1 year and had no luck..… We tried ovulation predictors , laying with pillows under me for 20 min. everything……the first month that I began using the book I realized that my timing was WRONG!. We got pregnant that very first month and I am now due Feb 2, 2007. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths! Even if you don't get into charting and everything....it will help you in so many ways!

You have as well a threat as any one! Remember, probabilities of fitting pregnant any given cycle is simplest 25-35%. Unfortunately there are simply such a lot of matters that may affect whether or not being pregnant occurs - the wellness of the mother, the egg, the sperm, and many others. I do not know should you regularly ovulate so overdue for your cycle, however that can point out a hormonal imbalance of a few variety. I recognize that a few medical professionals theorize that the later for your cycle that you simply ovulate, the scale back threat of being pregnant. Having stated that, regardless that, I received pregnant two times on day 23 of my cycle, so it isn't inconceivable! I will say that every time you're nonetheless having rainy or fertile mucus, you need to be along with your husband a minimum of each different day. Even regardless that having intercourse on day 25 will have to be well sufficient, it might generally have helped to be in combination on day 27 if viable simply to ensure. Another factor that a few being pregnant charts exhibit is what's referred to as the triphasic shift. What that suggests is that 6-nine days after ovulation there's a further temperature shift of a further zero.four levels to a brand new bigger degree. It does not regularly occur, however this can be a handy signal while watching for being pregnant. Hang in there, I recognize the wait is horrible however there is not anything you'll be able to do be wait and be sufferer. I'll hold my arms crossed for you!!

Your fertile days are the few days leading up to your ovulation day. If you only had sex on those days you'd still have a chance of getting pregnant.
It can be very confusing to learn all this TTC stuff!! LOL

your ovulation days are smack dab in the middle of your fertile days. Fertile days are the days that, if you had sex, you have a very good chance of getting pregnant. As for TTC, my husband and I had sex every other day starting the last day of my period and it worked for us the first month!
Hope this helps!

Some great books to read are "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" or "The Art of Natural Family Planning." They both explain the fertile day/infertile day differences really well.
