Unfortunately it's entirely up to them. They are not "supposed" to do anything.

Unless it is written into your contract of employment there is no legal obligation for an employer to pay a Christmas bonus, or a bonus of any other description. If they do you are legally required to inform the inland revenue so you can be taxed on it.

I would guess that the vast majority of employers do not give bonus's

refer to the HR branch and clarify what got here approximately. Ask them if there's a fashion that they'd take equivalent parts out of your next how ever many checks. Many business enterprise's will try this, in basic terms ask and ye shall get carry of. thank you

it is at the desecration of your company - most companies now have to link the bonus as an incentive to reach a goal ie sales targets - as it has tax implications

It is not legally required. It depends how much actual profit the company made and how generous they are feeling.

Most see the sense in doing it because happier employees normally equates to more efficient output. Unhappy employees don't put as much interest in their work and make more mistakes, costing the company more money and less profit.

I wish!! If they were I would have one. A christmas bonus is a companies opportunity to say thanks for your hard work during the year however they are not obliged to give you one.

n o one has to give a b onus , unless it says in your contract of employment they will do so.

If its in your contract of employment , the contract will tell you how much the bonus will be, or how it is worked out.

Normally a bonus is in the gift of those that employ you.

It's not an entitlement ... it's a gift! It's nice to be recognized for your work and dedication to your employer, but you shouldn't be surprised if you don't get one ... particularly in today's economy. Things just aren't what they use to be!

we all like them some get them but very few are entitled to them unless a mandatory payment is included in your employment contract
