hey I was going to say Covent Garden, and like you I like the entertainment and the atmos of the place, once went a lovely little bar called the Crusting Pipe is it still there? It was down some steps and was quite dark with candles and sawdust on the floor.

London zoo and the natural History Museum for hanging out with the kids.
If I'm on my own and just want some time to myself, I love the spot halfway across Waterloo Bridge, looking east down the Thames. It looks stunning at night. The best view of London you can get :o)

I like the area just between covent garden and lecester square. It's full of nice pubs, interesting shops and has a sort of villagey feel to it. Piccadily's nice too.
