It's basically a layman's guide to the creation of the universe as theorized by Stephen Hawking. Even though it's written to be readable by people without a background in astrophysics, it can be a tedious read and sometimes the concepts can be difficult to wrap your head around (So says my girlfriend).

It is an amazing book that gives an explanation to such cosmological events as the "big bang" quantum mechanics in the Planck era, gravitational constant, and explains much of astronomy in a very easy way. Often times people with out a background in advanced mathematics have a hard time understanding the connection of space/time, but he explains it with out calculations.
It is a great book.
