Xmas is greek or a language like that for Christmas and is just a shortened down version of Christmas. Apparently it is not bad to use the abbreviated version Xmas check this link out

Xmas is generally written with a capital X. While some fundamentalist Christians think it is disrespectful, in fact it has extremely religious origins, with the "X" being the symbol of the cross Christ died on. It has been a standard written form of Christmas in Britain for centuries, where "X" is also used to mean "cross" in terms like "Kings X Station". The abbreviation should always be said "Christmas", not "X-mas".

"X-mas" came to be written as an abbreviation for "Christ-mas" many centuries ago, because the letter "X" was used as an abbrevation for the title "Christ".

Why THAT abbreviation? Because "Christ" is from Greek "Christos", and the first letter of that word in Greek (and so in the Christian New Testament) --called "chi" and pronounced like the "ch" of Scottish "loch" or German "ach"-- was written as "X". "Christos" in Greek looks like this -- Χριστὸς
(Actually, the 'lower case' letter forms were invented long after the New Testament, but the capitals, like Χ , remain unchanged.)

In fact the use of such abbreviations for sacred names (including "Lord", "God", Christ" and "Jesus") is quite ancient, and may even be influenced by the special treatment Jews gave to the divine name "YHWH" (which they often wrote with special letter forms and stopped even pronouncing, substituting instead the Hebrew word "Adonai", meaning "Lord" --- which is the source of "LORD" in many of OUR Bible translations). So the abbreviation "X", far from trying to ignore or minimize Christ, was actually a way to treat the name with special honor!

By the way, the confusion about the pronuncation of the letter "X" goes back to its early history. Eastern Greeks used it to designate the "ch" sound, but Western Greek used it for the "ks" sound. This Western practice, through the Etruscans, ended up in the LATIN alphabet, and so in the many languages, including English, whose alphabet comes from the Latin.

Its the term for Christmas that someone uses when they dont want to use the "Christ" portion of the holidays name. Many people have their own reasons for this.
