I don't get the adoration of Cobain and it angers me no end that he has been glorified since his self-inflicted death.

JFK (was not expected to get re-elected for president at time of death
Stevie Ray Vaughn- He is often included on "best guitarist" lists nowadays, but very few people would have included him in the
1980's (though he was good)
Jimi Hendrix- Was not very popular when he was alive. Dying in his prime, and playing Woodstock immortalized him. ( He was good also, but overrated)
Cobain, definitely not a martyr. I don't know if he was an idiot, I don't agree with suicide, but you never know what another person is going through

Well to be a martyr you have to die for something. I don't know if we was an idiot either. Perhaps a talented person who's perception of reality has warped because of drugs. Like many people once they get rich there is nothing to keep them from over doing it. At least when he was struggling he didn't have enough cash to go drug crazy.
