I find myself taking a 'passive' interest in soaps because the mrs watches so many. There are a lot of characters I could quite easily get rid of.
Who is the one you dislike the most?
The loud-mouth girl who works with Roy in the cafe, I could easily push face in the chip fryer!

I agree, Luvfactory, It is the producers/writers job to make 'interesting' characters. Thats why I said 'characters', I'm not so naive, nor do I think the general public are, as to believe its real life.

These are just some of the characters i dislike:-
Claire from Hollyoaks-she is such a b**ch and makes people feel sorry for her and makes them think she's innocent, when she is not innocent atall and is infact a gold-digging, nasty b**ch!
Will from Hollyoaks- he is sooo sick, he makes my skin crawl! Who would watch someone on camera and just sit there perving on them, well not many sane people that's for sure! And it was just pure evil when he turned the pan around to purposely scold Zak!
Also, Pauline from Eastenders- how could you lie to everyone by telling them that u had a tumour, just to split your son and his girlfriend up!
My least favourite at the moment would probably be Zak from Hollyoaks!

I guess the soapwriters have achieved what they wanted. They could actually make you dislike a particular character. These characters are there to annoy the rest of the characters and us the viewers. Without them the residents of the soaps may not face those challanges that they would with them in it. For example, there was no need for that Rosemary to muscle in on the Kings but I guess it made things so much worse for the other family members. I agree, that awful ex-prisoner girl in Roy's cafe is really annoying but think of all the pain that little toe rag can cause for the others, which could make the plot that much more complicated. So, while we hate them, they do make things interesting. And remember, these are actors, I'm sure in real life they are really nice people.

Pauline Fowler - Old miserable moaning cow. From EastEnders. All are pretty stupid really but Pauline the most.

by far the worst is Pauline Fowler - glad shes leaving soon !
her character is such an evil coniving cow !
another one i can think off that i dislike is Bradley's father Max - hes ugly, unfaithful, egoistic and somehow - he has a pretty wife (once his mistress) who forgave him for cheating on her so many times and has 2 children with him ! surely not real life !

hate soaps, they were designed to brain wash the masses! to pick a character to get rid of, it would have to be Pauline from deadenders. The good news i think i have my wish, well if the adverts are anything to go by.

I can't stand anyone on One Life to Live. I used to enjoy the show but it's has really gotten lame.
