I don't think all black men fall into this category at all. You can also have a "angry white man" stereotype as well. I think the "angry black man" stereotype comes from the men who blame everything on their race. For example, a man gets arrested for the murder of his wife....his excuse..."it's because I'm black" or a cab doesn't stop for him....he gets mad....."it's because i'm black". I think its the men who play the "it's because I'm black" card too frequently and think the world hates them because they are black, therefore they are angry at the world. Now, these actual people are few and far between but I believe that's what got the stereotype started and unfortunately, thanks to those few, many men who are not that way are getting categorized into that stereotype.

Seems to be a culture thing and not a black thing. I live in an 80% black area in the South and most black women I encounter are no more angry than anybody else. The younger age group between 17-25 do seem to "demonstrate" in public with attitude. I see white chicks do this that "put on" that ghetto act. Like I said being white, I can't say that it is a black thing from my perspective.

Because angry black guys make a point of being noticed. Maybe not so much make a point to be noticed, but people notice angry black guys throwing road barrles down hills in Ann Arbor all the time.

All black men are'nt angry. It is known however, that black people tend to have a worser day than others depending. Maybe they just feel like everyone is picking on them because not only do you have that stereotype to deal with everyday, they have the ''black men are lazy, murderers, drugdealers, and being pulled over 30 times a day stereotypes to deal with. or maybe its being beat with a whip and treated like h*ll the last 200 years.....

It seems to have started with the "Black Power" movement in the sixties. At that point a lot of black males assumed that the only way to act was like some of the radicals. Black people are the same as any other racial designation, most are nice people, a few are not. As one person told me at one time we all bleed red, and pee yellow.
