I don't know what is causing your problem but, i have not had much luck to be honest with Dyson's, don't think i will buy one again, i have had two and both have broken down (the motor) a couple of weeks after the guarantee has run out!!! nearly £600 POUNDS WORTH OF HOOVERS in 4 yrs!!!
Anyway back to the point you should have a 2 year guarantee with it, if you think it is technical get them to sort it out.
Good luck.

It's broken. Ring up Dyson, they operate a bit like Rolls Royce and don't like to hear of their products doing unsavoury things so they will probably bend over backwards to help you-when mine went wrong they replaced it without fuss.

Has no one ever told you even the carpet supplier , you should never, ever vacume a new carpet for at least 6 months especially with a high powered dyson.brush only or manual carpet sweeper till then

its not your dyson its the carpet its picking up on loose fibers and draging them in "scorce the end of loose material to stop the fraying" (dont set fire to yourself though)

You spent too much money for it in the first place. They are very over rated and not worth the money.
