I've tried all the big airlines who are full even for other nearby destinations such as Malindi. And the 14 hour train to Mombasa doesnt sound like fun.

doesn't sound as if you have too much choice. It's either the train or a "matatu" or "dala dala"- and half a day in a local bus seems to me at least as much fun as the train ride.
I don't know how much you know East Africa, but I would definetly not recommend hitch hiking.
So, unless you know someone with a car or a plane, I guess it's the train.

am not sure if you gona manage,the remaining option is to take a bus to malindi and then lamu.its very busy now and you need to book
