PMS or premenstrual syndrome refers to the emotional
and physical disturbances that are suffered by many women
before their menstrual period.

The emotional symptoms of PMS that are most commonly described include irritability, anger, moodiness, extreme tension and anxiety, loss of control, lack of ability to concentrate. The physical symptoms are those of abdominal cramping and bloating, breast tenderness, fatigue, and intense cravings for salt, sweets and chocolate. PMS symptoms may begin as early as 10 to 12 days before the onset of the menstrual period and usually improve with the onset of menstrual bleeding. For some women, this may mean that they are suffering for at least one half to three quarters of every month with barely one week of relief before symptoms erupt again.
