When someone takes the time in their life to show you that you are special, you always remember that. Some people love others in a deep committed love of a partnership, others love on a different level or caring about your well being and caring what happens to you.
It depends where you are in life and who the other person is.
If it is someone your own age and they have a partner and is just a buddy, then smile sweetly and say thank you for the concern and appreciate the thought... If someone your age or older tried to string you along by telling you nice things to get affection from you then no, you have better forget them.
Do not be fooled by anyone who is trying to have you as a third party in their already committed relationship.
The love of friendship is one thing ,it is not to be mistaken for the same kind of love a couple share.

It's always hard to forget somone who makes you feel special. But try to keep your distance, you might make it worse on yourself if you hang around them.
