Because Canada is a constitutional monarchy and a Commonwealth Realm, with Queen Elizabeth II as its reigning monarch.
A lot of Canadians don't see the point of making such a big deal over the Queen but the fact remains that she is still considered to be "our" queen as well. Which is why we also have a Governor General. The queen's political powers are exercised by our Governor General. I'm just hoping I never have to see the day when I use money with Prince Charles face on it :(.

I understand that California is looking to put pictures of a queen in their courtrooms. And I'm not talking about the kind that lives in a palace in England, baboom boom.

I think that it is because we are still a Common Wealth Nation. Meaning that we were a colony of the United Kingdom and then gained our independence but still maintain a tie with our mother country.

canada has been the queen domain for many yrs. it is such that, even when trouble occured in senegal the frenchmen were called in. in kenya we rely on britain .it is a continous tradition
