Yes rice cereal is considered to be a solid food for babies. Usually when your pediatrician says that you can start your baby on solid food they mean the cereals rice and oatmeal. You always want to start with the rice cereal because it is the least likely one for the baby to have an allergic reaction to. The only bad thing is that it is the most constipating so just watch to make sure that your baby has bowel movements.
