i would have to say all of the above. it is particularly difficult to adjust to changing to a new job the older the person is.
having spent 31 years in one public school, i switched to another to serve as principal. my age was 55, and it was the hardest adjustment i ever had to make. i had to prove myself all over. at 55 it took an exorbitant amt of energy and time to gain a position of respect within the community. i absolutely couldn't do it again.
i am currently 58 and will remain where i am unil my retirement, at age 66.
reports indicate that the three most stressful life situation are:
the death of a loved one, divorce, and changing jobs.

2 and 5 for me... Though the job I recently got is the only one the commute has been an issue for, since I moved from a small southern town to Washington DC over 1K miles away. Now it takes me 2 hours to get to work, and I don't know where anything is.... Praise god for the metro =p.

Simply Confidence! If you are well versed with your subject, nothing can make the difference. If you are a good football player and know the techniques and you have the skill, it hardly affects whether you are playing on the football field in India or Barcelona or Manchester.

For me the hardest section isn't having the solutions. i don't love not understanding. i'm so excited at the same time as the day finally comes the position it "clicks" and also you're ok. I also don't love the time period "in training." i'm large pleasant so I in many circumstances get to carry close the coworkers first.
