Hey, I am not sure what you asking but...
Part 1: XP windows comes standard with a CD burning tool built into it. Select the files or folders. copy and paste or drag and drop the files onto your computer (in a folder of your choice). then place a new cd into your cd/dvd burner drive. select the files again and drag and drop onto the new cd (drive) and then select burn cd from the options found on your top left hand side once you are sure you have selected all the files you need.
Part 2: if you wanting to rip cd music to convert to mp3, then that is a different scene. You can use Windows Media player or nero to convert, they both user friendly, just remember to select cd quality option and or use the burn facility to copy them to cd after convertion.

You can't burn a CD until and unless you have a CD writing software like the NERO etc. and also you have to install the CD writing driver. Windows media player can only play the file and can't burn Cd's.

First of all you should have a cd writer to burn the cd's.
If u have cd writer:
windows media player is not a reliable software as u dont have a garantee whether it will burn properly or not.so use NERO for burning cd's.it has many user friendly options which will clearly guide u.

are you trying to burn a cd that will play on a normal cd player?
you need to get the track up in your play list, so choose the add to library function.
then copy to cd function.
