Racism is NOT dead.

I've been through it from 1st grade well into 6th grade. It only "stopped" because my family moved away.

It's still prominent through this site and in the real world. I still face it at times and I live in New York City, a place known for it's diversity.

Yeah I have a few times. I am white and have expierenced racism on several occasions from black people. Examples are deliberately talking to me in a nerdy up tight white man's voice. Or saying things like "yeeaaah duuuuuuude" in a mocking surfer type voice. Head banging there heads in a mocking fashion if they know I like rock. I get it quite often. Or they make assumptions about me b/c I am white that are completely and totally off base. It sucks, especially when I don't do anything to deserve it,

While in the navy, one of the older and more senior black girls in my birthing (on the ship), was racist! I got a lot of flock from her because she thought I was getting away with stuff, which I wasn't (she didn't even work anywhere near me to know the truth). Not sure how much flock she gave the rest of the girls, but I did see I wasn't the only one. It hurt! I grew up in a low-class, pro dominantly black neighborhood (I gave detail cause I had a black friend in middle school that grew up in a low-class pro dominantly white neighborhood) and I never experienced racism as this girl had done to me!

I have to agree with Willem K

30 years ago, only one race had rights in the Republic of South Africa...

Since 1994, yet again, only one race has rights in the RSA.

Innocentia, you mentioned that your Indian friend florishes at ananzi.
However, sisnce 1994, having prospects in a place of employment, is not the only right that have been stripped away from the rest of the South African population.

How about the right to safety and security?
How about the right to have a government that is not corrupt?

The world is being blinded by sheer propaganda, lies and deceit
from our current government.
The blacks in South Africa, are doing exactly the same, and worse even, to the rest of the population, than what the whites did to them in the apartheid era.

The current, black, government, had the opportunity to do things different.
But they are doing the exact same things and even worse, than what was done in the apartheid era.

Yep, tons of times. What do You do? I can't allow myself to hate a group of People because of the actions of hurt and hatefilled misguided Souls; nor will I excuse those hatefilled and hurt People for their horrible actions because of injustices that transpired centuries before my birth that I had nothing to do with. I live in the now. Hey, have a Merry Christmas and all the best for the new year!

i'm black.
a white girl (the ex girlfriend of my then boyfriend), confided in him, in private while i eavesdropped that she was woried about him. dating a black chic, they only want money and i may bring bad disease upon him. i was compelled to come out my hiding place, but i sat there and listened to my ex tell her that since i was a hundred shades lighter, what made me different. he aslo made it clear that he was terrified of being with her because she was a loose b**ch. and that so far i was the only person he trusted entirely (girl).and he told her she dressed like a sl*t... nuff said. but it hurt that someone would have such a perception about black females.

ps: willem k... most indians in rsa dont like black people. but right now, bee is focused on black, coloured and indian empowerment. media 24 recently sold shares to those three races and your race had it much better as compared to the blacks in our time. you cant deny that we'd been dragged to the dogs for years, at least you came second to the white man. my best friend happens to be indian and works for ananzi and has the best possible opportunities open to her... she has accepted all (thank you)

She really informed me no longer to flow the way I had mapped out because " a marginally little white lady like you won't be dealing with there."

Yes. But most of the time it was not directed at me. That is when we have to make the decision to condemn it not just go along with the crowd.

Yes and the only thing I can say is that you should not hate people who are like that. Just pity them. They are the ones who are loosing out. It limits your ability to have friendships and love.
