They may have changed their display name to resemble your friend. If this is the case; try right clicking on the name of the person and seeing what address shows up in the menu that appears.
It's possible that the person has also created a free hotmail/yahoo account resembling your friend's name. If this is the case you could try looking in the member directory or looking on the person's profile for an indication of who the person might really be but anyone setting up an account specifically for this purpose is likely to be doing so for dishonest reasons and therefore won't have entered their real credentials in their profile.
Unfortunately for your friend; the best thing to do is to ignore this person and let them get on with their futile little game until eventually they get bored - I mean; would this person go to the effort of forging a letter and sending it by post? Almost certainly not; they'll get bored or found out sooner or later.

No there is not I way that I know of. What you can do is report that SN to MSN and they can do something about it. You can also find out who most of the inpersonater's friends are on he/shes buddy list and tell them to block her then you all block her and he/she will not have anyone to talk to and will get bored.
Hope I helped! Have a very Merry Christmas!

He could would desire to get rid of your call from his record in any different case it is going to nonetheless look. although, in case you do no longer wnt to any extent further 'conversations' with your pal or 'ex-pal' as seems to be the case, why no longer shop your status as offline so he can no longer see you're on line, and then in basic terms respond or have chats with people you % to. although, you will desire to consistently flow to the lengths of adjusting your MSN handle and advising in basic terms those those with whom you desire to maintain in touch.
