The lamps on ALL cars run from the battery - NEVER directly from the alternator...so can't see why it was replaced. Anyway....
Some of the new Vectras have HID (xenon) lamps and these periodically 'flash' to re-ignite the plasma (if the curcuit is interupted). I had one HID that used to throw a wobbly every now & again. Turned out to be a poor connection that resulted in an 'under-voltage'. If just standard halogens, then DEFINATELY a loose connection in the lamp assembly.

Have you got Xenon or conventional halogen headlamps?
If it has Xenons, then there may be a problem with the ballasts that provide the very-high voltages required for the discharge-type bulbs.
If it has normal halogen bulbs, the problem is more likely to be a poor earth connection.
Either way, the car is under warranty, so take it back to the dealer.

It is a 2006 Vectra. It is on guarantee. Don't think too much about the flickering problem - go to the agency where you bought it.

define flickering?
try the earths, and make sure the connections on the back of the headlamp are clean and tight.
all your alternatoor does is charge the battery... and on an 06 vectra it shoould be OK.
