I mean what makes the divide between their thinking. If it is religion, then why are conservatives mixing religion with politics? doesn't that make them no better than Osama Binladen who did the same by mixing his religious beliefs with his political thinking?

Conservatives include the Evangelical Christians, and yes-they want to control our government to adhere to their beliefs (abortion laws, and anti-gay laws, etc.,). The polls said that 70% of them voted Republican this last mid-term election. They insist this is a Christian country, and should be governed by Christian beliefs. Whereas, so very many of our founding fathers were not Christians, but, Deists, and wanted no religious control in government.

Thank goodness we voted out so many of their leaders this last election.

And, yes---they are no different than Bin Ladin. Maybe they are not as violent, but, they are the same.

They do believe they feel their religion is the only religion that the world should follow. If Bush had won in Iraq---I think the missionaries would have been about the first into the country--with Bush's blessings. He is the leader of it all-thank heaven he will soon be gone. The next 2 years are 2 years too long.

If one actually really believe that God is real, that believe (which is not the same as religion), is inseparable from anything you think or do. This is true whether you are a Christian or a follower of Islam.

The only difference is that Islam advocates the slaughter of Infidels and Christianity demands that you love them.

I do not know why only conservatives seem to be intolerant to Islam; after all, anyone not following Islam is an infidel, no matter whether you're conservative or liberal. Maybe the conservatives just do not like the idea of a premature, violent death and the liberals do.

To each his own...

It may be because a lot of Conservatives associate Islam with the terrorist attacks (Pentagon, World Trade Center, etc.), even though the attacks had nothing to do with religion. One website, I think Cafepress.com, has a shirt that says, "9/11. The day I learned everything I needed to know about Islam."
Not all Conservatives are intolerant, but some of them seem to think that every Muslim is out to get the U.S.

Many conservatives are christian conservatives and they get tons of brainwashing on religious matters. I actually had these ladies tell me that Allah is not the God of Moses, because Allah is a capricious God. I said - what was the Great Flood if not capriciousness? They couldn't think about that because it wasn't in their programming.

Liberals are programmed, too. For example, it has been demonstrated for 50 years that separating infants and toddlers from their mothers is extremely damaging to infants and toddlers - messes up their intellect, emotional well-being, social competence, and physical health. It's a no-brainer, liberals should be against day care. But, they're programmed to be for it, so they never question the great harm they are supporting. As it is with conservatives and their blind spots.

Wow. There's a reckless and obscene overgeneralization about several topics which, by your posting, apparently you have no understanding whatsoever.

Just by reading what you wrote I can see it would be a waste of everyone's time to even consider teaching you the basics.

Just to add to my own popularity with more blatant honesty, the other responders were about as mature and open-minded as the asker.

Winning friends is not my forte, but pointing out how greivously mistaken people are is. That's honesty for you. Now be a good lemming and give me a "thumbs down". Kisses and hugs,

There are more moderate conservatives and sort of hard liners. I don't exactly know how their opinions are spread out among those groups. Some conservatives are pretty big on enviornment stuff much like liberals are into.

A religious person lives by the laws of God and doesn't separate it from their family or country,
Hence, "for God and country"
Conservatives look at the facts. The ISLAMIC terrorists have told us that they want to kill all infidels. That is a fact that we don't overlook.
As for liberals, don't even try to understand their thinking because it is always self-serving.
